Yakitori restaurant street Shinjuku Tokyo

Omoide Yokocho, Shinjuku by Daryl Johnson

Posted on 2014-05-22

6 years after taking a photos of this place, I learned the name of this alleyway crammed with small restaurants and bars in Shinjuku... Omoide Yokocho ("Memory Lane"). It actually has an older, less appealing name - Shomben Yokocho... please check Google-sensei if you'd like to know what that means!

A night walk down one of the party streets.

The place where I live:) by J.R.

Posted on 2014-02-28

Shintoshin is trying to compete for the tourist trade with many on the different cities on the Island, so this colorful street is designed to attract the late night party crowd, and tourist looking for a little action:) There is no parking on the street so most come by taxi, or the nearby monorail. There is off street parking but usually it ain't cheap:)

Downtown Naha City near the monorail station.

Night View by J.R.

Posted on 2013-05-06

Night view from the monorail looking down toward a new shopping mall. I liked this image as I really enjoy night shots, and I think downtown Naha City with all it's colors and lights is a wonderful place to take these kind of pictures:)

kurashiki okayama japan supermarket cake deli

Tasty Treats, Kurashiki by Daryl Johnson

Posted on 2014-08-20

A selection of cakes and pastries on display in a supermarket in Kurashiki, Okayama, Japan. Buyer beware though - this is all dog food! I love this typical sense of fun, attention to detail, and through-the-looking-glass confusion you can get as a visitor to Japan.

Almost all Japanese mothers having little kids get some optional kids carrier for their bikes.
Cats love that kind of carrier.

Tokyo Rockabilly Club

Tokyo Rockabilly Club (III) by Alfredo J. Martiz J.

Posted on 2007-08-18

This member of the Tokyo Rockabilly Club in particular caught my attention, his enthusiastic and bad guy attitude, he seemed to be behind every movement of the other members, carefully watching and then taking action.

I made many photos of this character in particular but with this one I think I managed to capture him in a normal and candid moment, he seems to be thinking about something and fulfilling the role of mastermind or leader of the gang.

Fuji from Shinkansen #1

Fuji from Shinkansen #1 by Hiro

Posted on 2014-05-28

When I travel from Kyoto to Tokyo or Yokohama by Shinkansen, I always reserve a left-sided seat. When I go back, I always reserve a right-sided seat to see and shoot Mt. Fuji from the window of the bullet train.

Mt. Fuji cannot always be seen. It is impossible on a cloudy day, never at night. The other evening, I was lucky to see the holy mountain clearly. I shot and shot, I was moving as fast as 270km/h and so it was difficult, almost all shots were coincidence.

The amazing beauty of trees (4) by Japanalia

One of the Japanese maples inside the Community Garden. The yellow leaves were the unusual and they attracted my attention. On a very small piece of land there's an agglomeration of plants and trees and there's no piece of soil left unused. People really do take care of this tiny garden.!
