Bats of Kao Luang Cave, Thailand

Bats of Kao Luang Cave, Thailand by Lai Chan See

Posted on 2014-05-16

At a precise time around sunset, a torrent of bats emerge from Kao Luang Cave in Thailand. They appear like a stream of smoke across the sky, and this continual torrent goes on and on for more than an hour. During this time millions of bats must have flown out from the cave to feed on fruits and insects around the area. The temple serves as interesting foreground for this incredible scene.

I selected this photograph as my favourite because of the sheer joy and energy this child radiated when taking flying jumps down a waterfall. It was taken at a waterfall north of Chiang Rai in Thailand.
