Um momento mágico numa manhã de inverno.
A magical moment on a winter morning.
Last month I went out to Muriwai to see how many gannets were left in the colony. There were still quite a few there, many youngsters starting to spread their wings and ready themselves for their flight across the ocean.
Double exposition : a poster on the street and some flowers in the botanical garden nearby. I make collages with my camera and try to play with different textures. The eyes staring at the onlooker come from my effort to make the picture live.
Accrochée à une montgolfière. Danse au gré du vent !
This woman was hanging upside down from a hot air balloon, dancing in the wind.
This is the showcase of the bakery on my street. We can also see the station at the bottom at the top. I then took a 2nd photo of a poster. I wanted to make a very graphic photo.
.
Putting a camera in front of children, that's wishing for an uncertain outcome. And this is O.K.
La pluie nous gâte malgré tout.
Avec ses grosses gouttelettes merveilleuses.
The rain spoils us despite everything.
With its marvelous large droplets.

Sunday, many people on the streets. The gallery is being renovated, so some parts of it are light, others still dark. I remembered Piranesi's engravings and tried to make an aquivalent picture. It's also typical for the "chaos" of Naples.
The Rochefort transporter bridge is a work of art by the engineer builder Ferdinand Arnodin. It was inaugurated on July 29, 1900, making it possible to connect the two banks of the Charente, between the towns of Rochefort and Échillais, without interfering with navigation. It is the last existing transporter bridge in France.
A gondola at road level allows users to go from one bank to the other. It is suspended from this deck by crossed cables and moves along the rails.
On my walks along the small waterways near my home, I see non-degradable litter in the water and along the banks.
We must all ensure that we either, avoid using non recyclable products, or at lease ensure we dispose of plastics and non-recyclable so they do not reach our waterways.
Sigh ...

The Shuswap has moods for all seasons. Shortly after this photograph was taken, the sheets of rain, white-caps on the rough waters and strong winds made life miserable for those who hadn't battened-down their sun shades!
As quickly as it has come, the photograph was "gone"!

White Rock is home. The sands are from childhood summers.
Like in other places with piers, the White Rock pier is iconic, and symbolic. Partially damaged by violent weather's forces, it was swiftly restored through local efforts and leadership.
North Sikkim road journeys are long but you come across so many waterfalls on the way. The hours spent on the road were the highlight of the trip. I don't think there is any other place with this high density of waterfalls.
This is because the drive to North Sikkim is all uphill and this is the east Himalayan region, where it either rains or there is melting snow coming from many hills, to form tributaries which further form local rivers like Lachen River and Lachung River, which further connects to Teesta River which further connects to the great Bharmaputra River.
Lachen is a small resort village in the state of North Sikkim, India. This is the view from our hotel balcony from our family vacation in April 2022.
The weather was cloudy, rainy, and chilly (7 deg Celcius in April). Sometimes these combination creates wonderful photo opportunities like this.
It is a very colorful village with every building (most probably a hotel) very well decorated from the outside. It is very enjoyable to take a walk over here with snow-peaked mountains on one side and a river flowing down.
This town is at an altitude of 8,500 ft and is used as a stopover to acclimatize before tourists visit Gurudongmar Lake at an altitude of 17,800 ft. Reaching Lachen takes almost a day (6-7hrs drive) from Gangtok which is the capital of Sikkim.
Foreigners don't usually visit this village. They are not allowed to travel farther north to the lake as it is very close to India-China international border.
It's a place I shop quite often. In one showcase I saw this ad with the colorful woman staring at me. I then turned around and took the 2nd shot of another store where I saw some reflections of the street. All this took less than 30 seconds, as usual.
Taking a walk through the historical Roger Williams Park in Providence, Rhode Island. One of the attractions there is the Temple to Music. Constructed in 1924 by William T. Aldrich. The location is used for many concerts, organized fundraisers, wedding, and photography.
This oak is estimated to be 1200 years old and is located in Allouville-Bellefosse, in Seine-Maritime. It is considered the oldest oak in France, and was classified as a Historic Monument in 1932. Over the centuries it has dug and it houses 2 tiny chapels inside its trunk. It is guyed and circled everywhere so as not to collapse.
Le violoncelle.
Magnifique instrument, très personnalisé ici..
I was impressed by this ornate cello.
Hamer man taken at a bull-jumping ceremony, showing his ceremonial hair-do. It takes about three days to achieve this style. The"cap" part is made from clay and ocher.
Guess who was my favorite. Yep, Led Zeppelin! Where were you on 28 February 1977? It is a trick question: I wasn’t at The Summit (in Houston) either. Robert Plant got sick and postponed the concert until May. Ticket price:$9.85. I paid $50. And it was worth every penny!
Other favs: Black Sabbath and ZZ Top.
Fav venue? This Texas boy didn’t have many choices, haha. But best place ever was Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin in the 70s! Broken Spoke Tavern, too.
What’re your fav concerts? Nowadays, I like anything “live” from rap to opera!

I knew it was weak, but t hadi rained all day and was forecast to be cloudy over night, so I didn't recharge it earlier in the day. As I was ready for bed, I looked out the window and beheld a full moon. Setting up the camera for some test shots of the full moon (I had researched camera setting several days before), I prepared for a long wait...until clouds rolled in, obscuring the moon once again. So I packed up the camera and went inside...only to behold out my window the moon, already partially in shadow, Out I went to set up once again, as the sky got hazy and ground fog began to develop. This time I waited it out and while the sky was not as clear as I would have liked, I did get to watch the eclipse, snapping multiple exposures. Just as the moon was emerging from the earth's umbra, and things looked like they were peaking...the battery died.
It's a garage for bicycles behind Geneva railway station. Going further up the stairs, you'll se on your left a wall painting in yellow. I combined the two ta make an impressionistic photo.
Here we see Burlamacco and Ondina smiling. "Smiles" because in this photo I wanted to isolate the faces of the two characters to bring the attention to their smile. Burlamacco and Ondina have been the official mascots of the Viareggio Carnival since 1930. In this photo they are the guests of the Gambettola Carnival.
We decided to have a walk in this garden and I saw these plants standing there. I made a double exposure - one in a normal manner and the second one by turning my camera upside down. I do this trick quite often when I am shooting landscapes. The other thing is that I was doing action paintings 25 years ago and this picture comes close to it.

My fear of death is not in vain, there is no other world, and the only trace we have left is in this world, so be useful and live as long as we live.

Repairs are being made to my apartment and their sebum would make the cat’s life very uncomfortable. There would be something to sew there too, so I asked my daughter if she would like to take care of Leevi for about a month. He agreed and Leevi is comfortable there. Their own pets are three cats: Kaapo, Pus and Sapliini, and a dog named Mikke. everyone gets along well with each other.
