Posted on 2015-02-26

Sunset amongst the mangroves in Dos Palmas, Palawan Island, Philippines on 3rd January 2015. To me it symbolizes the end of a difficult 2014, and marks the begin of what looks like a beautiful, promising 2015 - reconnecting with our family and all those close friends both near and far, each of who make life worthwhile for us. You know who you are - Happy 2015!

Happy Land is Manila's slum that has sprung from the rubbish dumps of the city. It is a area where the poor survive in poverty, battling disease and malnutrition. Shanty huts are built from whatever materials can be scavenged and scraps of food.are collected from garbage bins Takeaway stores’ rubbish bins and boiled to make ‘pagpag’ which is sold to hungry families for a few pesos.
