Fissure 8, Kliauea Volacano, Hawaii

I was editing images for my book project yesterday when I came upon this image captured on the early morning of June 1, 2018. I joke that most dads take their sons fishing or golfing, but I took my youngest son Aaron on a doors-off helicopter ride to photograph the famed Fissure 8 on the Big Island of Hawaii. We had to wait 5 days to get booked and then departed out of Hilo Airport on a Friday morning at 7am (first copter up). I had read that pilots could get no closer than 5 miles and was surprised when our pilot asked me how close I wanted to get?
