Week of September 13, 2019

What lies beyond the garden wall? Our imagination blooms alongside the hidden trees and flowers pushing forward to be seen. A passion flower. A Secret garden. The gazebo frog ... all beckon us to explore within.

Sanjusangendo Garden

Kyoto, Japan

A beautiful garden near the Sanjusagendo Temple in Kyoto with the wonderful cherry blossoms in full bloom. This temple has a lot more interest than just the garden - inside there are one thousand life-size statues of the Thousand Armed Kannon which stand on both the right and left sides of the main statue... there are also statues of 28 guardian deities... it is quite a sight, however, no photography was allowed inside so i settled for the photos of the garden and surrounds.

Summer flowers

Westvoorne, Netherlands

De passiebloem uit mijn tuintje.

A summer flower from my garden. The passionflower.

Frog in Gazebo at Stonecrop Garden, Cold Spring NY

Cold Spring, New York, United States

We found this frog sitting in a gazebo perched on the water of a pond at the Stonecrop Garden in Cold Spring, New York. Once the home of Anne and Frank Cabot, it is now a public garden featuring alpine troughs, planted stone walls, a rockery, water gardens, woodlands and meadows. There is also a formal English style flower garden that is entered through a wall that very much reminded me of "The Secret Garden," a book I loved as a child.
